The PercSys Approach to Stone Management in Endourology…Microcatheters.

PercSys’ microcatheter technology provides a revolutionary approach to treating kidney and ureter stones for the endourologist. Using a proprietary occlusion film at the device’s distal end, these microcatheters are designed to prevent stone fragment migration and to facilitate fragment removal during lithotripsy procedures.

The first in the family of microcatheters, the PercSys Accordion® Stone Management Device is designed for endoscopic lithotripsy procedures. The Accordion device combines the utility of multiple endoscopic stone management tools into a single device, as well as provides a unique set of benefits.

At the beginning of the endoscopic lithotripsy procedure, the Accordion device tracks easily past the stone and can be monitored with fluoroscopic or endoscopic imaging. Once formed, the device’s film occlusion conforms to and fills the ureter, and is designed to prevent retrograde migration of stone fragments into the kidney. During stone fragmentation, the Accordion device facilitates distal rinsing of smaller fragments to keep the field of view clear. Following fragmentation, the device can sweep larger fragments easily into the bladder or into a ureteral access sheath, thereby eliminating tedious and time-consuming serial basketing of individual fragments. These benefits combine to simplify and shorten endoscopic lithotripsy procedures.
